Michelle Lackey

Michelle moved from Roanoke, Virginia, to Charleston in 1996 to begin culinary school. Along the way, she met her husband, a Mount Pleasant native, and made their home here as they raised their family.

They have two sons, Dylan (25) and Caimen (20), who keep their lives busy and full of laughter.

“Hospitality has been at the center of my entire career. I have worked in higher education dining, business dining, and as a private school chef. After recovering from ACL surgery this past year, I found myself looking for a new path. When I came across St. Christopher, I immediately felt drawn to it. The moment I stepped onto the property, I felt an overwhelming sense of belonging and knew this was where I was meant to be.”

Where do you see God?

I see God's presence here every day. Whether it is watching a mother deer care for her fawns, seeing baby sea turtles make their way to the ocean to begin their journey, or simply witnessing the smiles and laughter of our guests, I am reminded of His grace. We are surrounded by these amazing miracles every day.

Favorite Place

My favorite place has always been the kitchen. I thrive on the joy, comfort, and sense of community that food brings to others. Seeing the smiles on our guests' faces is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.

Favorite Bible Verse

Isaiah 40:31

"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

This verse has always reminded me that God gives us the strength we need each day to accomplish the work He has set before us. Through faith, trust, and perseverance, we can overcome obstacles and accomplish extraordinary things.
