Upcoming Events at St. Christopher
Square Dancing Night
Calling one and ALL! Young & old! Beginners & experienced! St. Christopher will be hosting our very own Community Square Dance Night!
On Saturday, March 14th, from 6pm to 8pm, you are invited to square dance in our beachfront Recreation Hall [2810 Seabrook Island Rd]. Brad Tomlinson, an experienced and local Square Dance Caller, will be leading the night. If you have never square danced before, he will be explaining the basics and directing the flow.
As if this night couldn’t be any more fun, we will also have pie available for all participants in celebration of Pi Day [3/14]! You haven’t truly experienced St. Christopher until you have enjoyed a slice of our famous Mud Pie.
To claim a spot, the registration fee is $20 and is nonrefundable. We will only have 50 spots available, so snag yours quickly! We hope to see you there!

Wildlife Monitoring Workshop
Thank you to all who came out for the second session of our Sustainability Workshop series! We focused on invasive plant species and shared strategies to identify and take out some of the most prominent invasives in our area. One of our participants, Havital Miltz, won our raffle to take home a free native plant as well! A big shout out to Nathan Hundley and Rebecca Allen, two of our Barrier Island Naturalists, for leading the night.
All are welcome to join us for our third and final Sustainability Workshop session. This will be held in our Temple Conference Center on Tuesday, February 3rd at 6pm. We will be sharing data we have received from the trail cams on our property. We will also be discussing the biodiversity of St. Christopher and how to live alongside wildlife! Sign up for this free workshop to learn more about how you can implement sustainable practices into your own life, to hear from our team of environmental educators, and potentially win our raffle to take home your very own trail cam!
Art Classes
Inspired by the beautiful landscape of the lowcountry, St. Christopher is excited to be offering art classes to the public! Everyone is welcome. We will be hosting classes on January 27th and January 28th in our Conference Center Building.
In each class, participants will be guided through an acrylic painting of a marsh landscape by one of the professional artists that are part of our Artist Residency Retreat. Art supplies will be provided.
Pamela Wingard will be leading the class on January 27th from 4-6:30pm. Sarah Jane Tart will be leading the class on January 28th from 5:30-8pm. There are 15 spots available for each course. The participant cost of each class is $50. Light refreshments will be provided.
Please reach out to Lauren Harris, Director of the Conference Center, at lharris@stchristopher.org if you have any questions.
Artist Retreat
OUR 2026 ARTISTS ARE PAMELA WINGARD & SARAH JANE TART! SIGN UP FOR CLASSES BELOW.
Here at St. Christopher, we are blessed to be surrounded by over 300 acres of natural lowcountry ecosystems. We strive to be a place where all are welcome, all may find rest, and all may experience the wonder of the creation. Through the upcoming Artist Retreat, we are seeking to welcome 2 artists to sneak away from the busyness of life and enter into our space of eco-inspiration. If selected, each artist would be provided with free lodging at St. Christopher from January 19th to February 1st [apartment facilities include bedrooms, full kitchens, living areas, full bathrooms, and porch areas]. We ask that each artist would then lead an art class onsite for the community and donate a piece of their work to our Barrier Island Earth Day 5k Silent Auction (April 25th, 2026). We want to provide the space and time for artists to find peace and create. All are encouraged to apply!
Artist Retreat 2026 Application
Applications will be due by December 1st at 11:59 pm. We will announce the winners on December 5th!
Interested in joining for one of the onsite art classes being offered? Stay tuned for a sign up once the artists have been selected!
Advent Retreat
We are happy to announce we will now be offering an Advent Retreat at St. Christopher the weekend of December 12th-14th, 2025.
Fitting in line with the beautiful property we get to steward, the peace we receive as we remember Jesus' birth, and the hope we have that Christ will come again, our theme this year will be "All Creation Waits."
All are welcome to join us for this retreat. Over the course of the weekend, participants will be able to gather for compline, worship, reflective solitude, and enjoy creation/holiday-themed activities. In the height of the holiday season, step away from the noise and take advantage of this thin place that is St. Christopher.
With both an overnight option and a single full-day option, participants are welcome to sign up using this link. Meals, lodging [if staying overnight], and activity materials are all included within the price. In line with our heart to be a place of belonging for the next generation, we are also offering discounted prices for students and young adults!
Stay tuned for more details to come. We hope to see you in December! Sign up today!
Invasive Species Workshop
A big THANK YOU to all who joined us for our first Sustainability Workshop on Rain Barrels! Tyler Harris, Associate Director of the Barrier Island Environmental Education Program, gave us all a deep dive into the parts and purpose of rain barrels. Participants also got to see some of the ways our staff is implementing water conservation around St. Christopher's property.
The second workshop in this series will take place in our Temple Conference Center on Tuesday, December 2nd at 6pm. All are welcome to join us. We will be discussing invasive plant species in our area and what you can do about it!
Sign up for this free workshop to learn more about how you can implement sustainable practices into your own life, to hear from our team of environmental educators, and potentially take home a native plant!
We seek to continue to welcome all of our friends and neighbors onto our beautiful property, while also educating and furthering our mission of conservation and stewardship. We hope to see you in December! Sign up using this link today!
Deveaux Bank Birding Kayak Tour
Deveaux Bank Birding and Kayak Trip 2025
Attention all bird and kayak enthusiasts! The St. Christopher Camp and Conference Center’s Outdoor Encounters program invites you to join us on our annual Deveaux Bank Birding and Kayak Trip for 2025! The 3-hour tour will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, starting at 9:30 AM and ending around 12:30 PM.
The trip includes paddling with tandem or single sit-on-top kayaks from St. Christopher’s beach on Seabrook Island to Deveaux Bank, with around 1 hour of exploring and birding along Deveaux’s intertidal zone. Deveaux Bank is one of the premier seabird sanctuaries north of Florida with thousands of birds nesting and migrating through every year. An assortment of species – including American white pelicans and piping plovers – frequent the bank’s shores. Because of Deveaux’s importance, we ask that all guests adhere to SCDNR regulations by staying below the high tide line not designated as a nesting area.
Spots are limited on a first-come, first-serve basis and as such, you may be placed on a waitlist. The cost is $75 per person. Lunch is not provided. If you are interested in joining us for the 2025 trip, please fill out the form at this link: https://forms.gle/wwy3yE3yGiUJmGZb7
*Please be mindful of the more vigorous nature of this kayaking trip and if there is anything that may prevent you from fully participating.*
Please contact Tyler Harris, Associate Director of Barrier Island, at tharris@stchristopher.org if you have any questions. We look forward to exploring Deveaux with you!
